Call to Action: ASAP UK Election Audit 2015
Urging our politicians to address the issue of poverty
Elections are a time for change, but unless we are active and aware we risk missing our chance to influence the paths of our nations. With the UK elections coming up, Academics Stand Against Poverty is looking to spread awareness of the issues surrounding both national and global poverty.
The ASAP UK Poverty Audit is bringing together a group of leading academics to audit the main political parties’ manifestos to assess how they address UK and global poverty. At a time of severe inequality and as austerity policies continue to bite, the elections are a pivotal point to ensure practical responses to poverty are being pursued.
ASAP looking to push this conversation into the mainstream, and one way we plan to do this is by identifying ASAP Ambassadors to carry our message. If you want to be involved as an author, ASAP Ambassador, organise an event at your university, write a blog post, or join our Peer Review, Communications, or Methodology working groups, please get in touch by visiting http://academicsstand.org/chapters/united-kingdom/.
